Pistachio the Kiwi — Released into Otanewainuku Forest

Posted by WildKiwi Clothing on

We're proud to share one of our favourite Wild Kiwi moments — the release of Pistachio, a kiwi bird, into the protected Otanewainuku Forest in the Bay of Plenty.

Wild Kiwi donated $1,500 to the Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust, raised entirely from sales of our multi scarves — with 50 cents from every scarf sold going directly to the Trust. The funds were used to hire tracker dogs to locate Pistachio, who had lost his GPS device somewhere in the bush. Once found, he was safely caught and released into the Otanewainuku Forest — a protected habitat where kiwi can thrive.

Pistachio's release is exactly why we support the Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust. Kiwi are taonga — a treasure — and helping to restore them to their natural habitat is something we're deeply passionate about. Every purchase you make at Wild Kiwi helps us continue this work.

We wish Pistachio well out there in the bush. Stay safe, little mate! 🥝
