The Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust
Over the last 150 years there has been a huge decline in New Zealand’s forests resulting in our national icon the kiwi being in serious decline with 95% of the population now lost. To play our small part in rectifying this Pacific Collections through its brand Wild Kiwi helps sponsor the locally based Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust, who’s aim is “Ensuring the long term survival of kiwi in the Otanewainuku Forest, by preserving the taonga (treasures) of native flora and fauna for generations to come”.
Along with our yearly donation of $2000, we contribute 50 cents for every bandana and scarf sold. To date we have contributed over $60,000 to the Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust
The Trust has named a Kiwi after us, appropriately called “Wild Kiwi".
Te Puna Sports Club
At Pacific Collections we are into our sports so when the local Te Puna Sports Club approached us for sponsorship we were very keen to get on board. Every year we have helped them out with clothing, embroidery and a cash donation. The Te Puna Sports Club is very much whanau base with children aged from six to adults. Some of the families have been with club for generations.
Pacific Collections sponsors Sustainable Coastlines, a multi-award winning New Zealand charity run by a team of hard working staff and a network of passionate volunteers and collaborators.
Sustainable Coastlines’ mission is to enable people to look after the coastlines and waterways they love.
